Tickle Song

Tickling has always been a playful way of showing affection in the Grammer family.  After voting Kathy the best tickler in the family, Red and the boys wrote this song in her honor.  Kids love the anticipation and release of built into this wonderful song!  From Red's family and from Red's award-winning Favorite Sing Along Songs CD.

Materials Needed:

The song "Tickle" from Red Grammer's recording, Red Grammer's Favorite Sing Along Songs.

Form two circles, one inside the other with equal number of children in each circle. Have the children on the inside circle partner up with a child from the outside circle. (Because activity involves tickling, make sure that those children who don't like to be tickled are matched up together.)

Chorus

(put one foot out in front and one foot behind to allow a rocking in and out)
“Tickle!” -each child leans in to tickle their partner
“No!” -each child pulls back and crosses their arms and hands in front of them
“Tickle!” -each child reaches out to tickle their partner
“No!” -each child pulls back and crosses their arms and hands in front of them
“Silly, willy, willy, willy” -stepping in place in time to the music, each partner turns themselves completely around
“Wiggle, wiggle” -each partner wiggles their waist and chugs their arms in a circular motion alongside their body while lowering their body by bending their knees
“Wump!” - hop
(This whole sequence is repeated)

Verse 1

“She's the beast of the east” -each child makes a ferocious beast at their partner
“The best of the west” -each child makes like a champion (arms slasped over head or flexing biceps)
“If you haven't” -the right hand is placed horizontally on the brow in a “look out” pose and the child looks to the right
“seem the wiggle wump” -change from right to left hand and look to the left
“you ain't seen nothin' yet” -change back to right hand and right turn
“giggle giggle gumbo, tickle whisker stew, the silly willy wiggle wump is coming just for you” - the whole circle moves clockwise, partners side by side, walking steadily on tip toes, hands up by the face, looking around as if to catch someone by surprise or be caught and stopping and turning toward their partners on “you!”

Chorus

Verse 2

“Lock all the windows” -each child makes the motion of quickly closing a window
“Bolt all the doors” -sweep closed fists across in front of the body like locking a big bolt
“What's that? Oh no! The wiggle wump is coming 'cross the floor” -nervously look from left to right with hands wiggling in front of face
“You can hide in your closet” -the whole circle again moves clockwise, partners side by side, acting like they are hiding between the suits in a closet (arms flat against their sides, shoulders hunched up)
“Or underneath your bed” -while moving place arms up over the head, bending knees
“It's all been tried before my friend but it hasn't stopped her yet when she says” -change to stealthy tiptoe walking. Stop and turn toward partner on “yet”

Chorus

(slow down movement at the end of final chorus to match the musical retard)
